Colon cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death. A nationwide study using BMI and cancer incidence data from the US Cancer Statistics database estimated that each year people ages 30 and older, about 37,670 new cancer cases in men and 74,690 new cancer cases in women were due to excess body weight (overweight, obesity, or severe obesity). The best way to decrease any risk is to work on those factors that you have control over like lifestyle, and weight.

It’s been shown that a major mineral the majority of the population is lacking is Magnesium. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of Magnesium for females 19-31+ years old is 310-320 mg/day, with that number increasing during pregnancy; for males, 19-31+ years, 400-420 mg/day is recommended. This mineral decreases naturally after one works out via sweat. It is critical for heart health, creating energy within our bodies, and regulates nerve transmission and muscle contraction. There are many food sources that contain magnesium, such as whole grains (i.e. brown rice), green leafy vegetables (i.e. spinach), and nuts (i.e. almonds). Furthermore, make sure you’re fueling your body with enough magnesium so your muscles can function adequately! Brought to you by Rush Physical Therapy located in our club just to the Right of the elevators.
