Strength small group training offers members a circuit style strength training class that is fun, challenging and offers personal trainer guidance throughout the duration of the class. All weight is individually selected for participants so everyone is challenged at their own strength level opposed to a set standard.

Strength training small group classes include implements ranging from barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells to tires, battle ropes and other free weight equipment, giving a different and beneficial variation to exercise. Workouts will be created before training, any changes will determined by the situation. Classes meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6 AM. To sign up or get more information email JP at

The kettlebell course, taught by certified kettlebell instructors Steven Koontz and Rikki Carlin, teaches the basics of hard-style kettlebell training to members of all fitness levels.

Each week, class members will learn and master movements such as the swing, the clean, the Turkish get-up, and the snatch. Classes run every Wednesday at 4 PM. Email JP at to sign up or get more information.

Winter may be almost here, but this is not a time to hibernate! Rather it is a time to prepare your body for next year. Pilates provides the perfect combination of resistance training, core exercises and stretching – all of which are essential for keeping your body flexible, stable and strong enough to safely return to your active lifestyle once the winter snow melts.

Mix up your off-season training this year with Pilates! We have a new fall class schedule and three new additions to our Pilates training staff to meet all of your training styles and time preferences. To schedule a complimentary consultation or to try one of our small group classes, contact FFC Gold Coast Pilates coordinator, Sterling Martin, at

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates and is an amazing fitness format that can help build muscle strength, balance, coordination, help alleviate chronic pain, prevent injury and much more! Learn more about some of our trainers below and visit the Pilates studio today!

Marjorie Marino

Health and fitness have always been a core component of Marjorie’s life and she is happiest when she can inspire others to lead and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Marjorie has over 30 years of experience in group fitness/personal training in cycling, cardio aqua, barre and strength formats. She also specializes in programs for women, perinatal & senior populations. Come join Marjorie’s group apparatus in the Pilates studio every Tuesday at 9 AM or schedule for a duet or private training session!

Jill Weinberg

From ballet and tap dancing to biking, swimming, water skiing, and horseback riding, Jill has done it all! Jill is a Milwaukee native who spent 20 years in Miami before moving to Chicago in the 1990’s. She has always been active. After moving to Chicago, Jill was introduced to Pilates, which is now her fitness focus. She is especially enthusiastic and passionate about Pilates because it makes her feel longer and stronger and encourages her to “keep moving forward!” Jill currently teaches a group apparatus class at 10 AM on Monday mornings and is also available for private sessions at FFC Gold Coast.

Gavin Donnellan

Gavin is from the Bay Area in California. Aside from Pilates, he is also a master trainer, group fitness instructor, and swim coach for FFC, so you can train with him all over the club! Before working at FFC, he taught English language and performed in plays, musicals and improv around the world. Gavin is, by far, one of our most entertaining Pilates instructors!

Gavin is also able to relate to gym members on a very personal level since he has lost a considerable amount of weight. He understands, first-hand, the challenges faced during any fitness journey. A huge part of any fitness journey is remaining injury-free. Gavin loves Pilates because it teaches him more about strengths (and how to improve them), and our weaknesses (and how to minimize them). Using Pilates to learn about his own strengths and weaknesses has aided in Gavin’s newest fitness love – triathlons! Gavin teaches at 11 AM on Saturday mornings at FFC Gold Coast.
