Chief Executive Officer
Gale Landers co-founded Fitness Formula in 1984 and is the sole owner of the company. Under his leadership, the firm has developed its Chicago area network of Fitness Formula Clubs. He holds a Bachelors of Business degree in Accounting and a Masters degree in Athletic Administration from Western Illinois University. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), serving as IHRSA Board President in 2000. In 2004, he was elected into the Chicago Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. He is a current Board Member of the Chicago Sports Commission, and serves on the Leadership Advisory Council for the Chicago location of Willow Creek Community Church.
Human Resources Director
Barb Farruggia joined Fitness Formula Clubs late in 2011 as the Human Resources Director. She has an extensive Human Resources background and intimate knowledge of the hospitality and fitness industries. Barb oversees all HR-related areas of the company including recruiting, benefits, policies, training and compliance.
Chief Technology Officer
Greg Cibura joined Fitness Formula in the summer of 1998. Greg is responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions to support the policies and directives of the company. He maintains existing enterprise systems, while providing direction and support of technology and information operations in accordance with the company core values.
Chief Financial Officer
Brian Singleton joined Fitness Formula in 2008 following seven years in public accounting. He earned his accounting degree from Purdue University. His responsibilities as CFO include managing the firm’s corporate accounting department which oversees all financial reporting, cash management, insurance, and banking relationships.
Vice President of Fitness
Scott Lewandowski, MS, Regional Director for Fitness Formula, joined the company in 1994. He has direct oversight of several FFC locations and leads the development, standardization and growth of our fitness programs and member retention initiatives. He was the 2001 IHRSA/ACE Fitness Director of the Year and is a veteran presenter at fitness industry conventions and conferences. Scott obtained a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Benedictine University in 1997 and is a Certified Personal Trainer with The National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise, a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach, and Certified Resistance Training Specialist.
Vice President of Operations
Jeff Riney joined the corporate team in the last quarter of 2010 as Regional Director. Jeff has managed multiple club regions in several markets during his 15 plus years in the fitness industry. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Marketing. His focus for FFC will be to provide the leadership and operational support for the amenity and business components, and drive the growth of membership sales to effectively and positively impact business growth.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations
Daniela is a fitness industry veteran with extensive experience in senior level marketing and communications, multi-channel media planning, public relations management, and community outreach. She held several management positions with FFC in prior years and ascended to her current position in 2013. Daniela is a strong advocate of a healthy lifestyle, has a passion for impacting lives through fitness and wellness, and holds a B.S in Finance from Northern Illinois University.
Regional Spa and Retail Director
Lisa Ellis joined Fitness Formula in 2011 as Regional Director of Spas and Retail. Lisa is responsible for spa operations, spa brand and service direction, and retail for 8 FFC clubs. She has almost a decade of experience in spa management at several award winning spas in the US and PR, and also in the fitness industry. Prior to her career as a Spa Director, Lisa worked for direct and internet marketing companies in operations and business development. Fairly new to Chicago, Lisa is also a licensed massage therapist and originally hails from New York.
Director of Management Services
Sharon Staves has been with FFC since 2012 as the Operations Manager at our Oak Park location. Her exceptional performance in that role and her 17 years of fitness industry experience lead her to a promotion in early 2014 as Director of Management Services. Sharon’s expertise in facility operations and exceptional customer service make her the ideal candidate for this new role. Sharon is responsible for overseeing the management of our four corporate fitness center locations along with spearheading our staff development and training initiatives.
Regional Director of Corporate Wellness
Kat Byrne is a veteran of the health club industry and focuses primarily on corporate wellness programs. Of her 25 years in the fitness industry, 12 of them have been with FFC. She implements Wellfit, the corporate fitness and wellness program of preventative health service plans to reach new and often inactive membership markets. Kat facilitates corporate sales, business partnerships, and wellness programs as the core of Fitness Formula’s Wellfit, creating a healthier work environment for our corporate clients.
Director of Medical Services
Bob is fully dedicated to creating solutions for the unhealthy population through support of the medical community in Chicago. He has spent the last 25 years working in the pharmaceutical and medical support markets, with roles that include; coordination of customer care, presentation and management of health initiatives, and incorporating improved quality initiatives within the medical system environment for improved patient care. Bob’s work over the last four years has been specific to the incorporation of initiatives to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Mike Drozd joined Fitness Formula in the summer of 2007. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a degree in Finance. Mike is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with the accounting processes in support of all Fitness Formula Clubs.
Corporate Staff Accountant
Rodney joined Fitness Formula in 2012 with over 15 years experience in payroll and commission analysis administration. He is a graduate of Roosevelt University and holds a Bachelor of General Studies in Music Education. Rod is responsible for administration and auditing of all commissionable payrolls, membership gift certificate programs and the FFC Wellfit program accounting.
Corporate Staff Accountant
Shirley joined Fitness Formula in 2009 as was promoted to Corporate Accountant in 2012. She has an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from the Keller Graduate School of Management. Shirley is responsible for accounts payable and assisting FFC’s Senior Staff Accountant with the accounting processes in support of all Fitness Formula Clubs.
Renee Watts joined Fitness Formula in 2013; she has almost a decade of technology maintenance and repair experience. She holds a B.F.A. in Interactive Arts and Media from Columbia College in Chicago. Renee is responsible for supporting, maintaining and advancing the clubs’ technologies.
Regional Manager of Retail
Amy is a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was recently married, is the proud Aunt of 4 nieces and nephews, and “mom” to two great pups! Prior to joining FFC, Amy worked at the original Kiva Day Spa for five years after receiving her license in massage therapy from Chicago School of Massage.
Josh joined FFC in 2013. He hails from the great North, the frozen tundra of Green Bay. He has worked in graphic design for the past 10 years. One of his main goals as Art Director is to turn everybody at FFC into Packer fans. His passions are music and video/motion design. He is married with two children.
Regional Pilates Manager
Kristin started with FFC in 2001 as a Fitness Specialist and Group Exercise Instructor at FFC Union Station. Over the past thirteen years, she has proven herself on numerous occasions. She was promoted to Group Exercise Manager of FFC Halsted Street in 2002 and added on the responsibility of Group Exercise Manager of FFC East Lakeview in 2003. Kristin continued to advance at FFC Halsted Street by becoming the Pilates Coordinator in 2004 and Fitness Director in 2012. Today, she holds multiple certifications including AFAA Certified Group Instructor, Physicalmind Institute Concentration 101 and 201, Powerhouse Pilates Mat and Reformer, ISCA Master Trainer, Healthy Moms, and Perinatal Fitness Certification.
Accounts Payable Spec
David joined the FFC family in 2010 as a membership services rep and was promoted to the corporate team as our accounts payable specialist in 2014. Prior to working for FFC, David worked on various projects in Europe and Asia. He is currently pursuing his MBA with a concentration in management studies at Roosevelt University. David is responsible for maintaining good relations with our vendors through the timely processing and payment of all accounts payable transactions.
Corporate Office Administrator
Casey graduated from Western Illinois University in 2008 with a degree in Health Services Management. For the last 5 years she has been working in the Emergency Medical Services field being able to gain experience in Human Resources and Management. Casey is the most recent addition to our corporate staff and is responsible for day-to-day operations within the office and general support to the corporate office and all departments.
Social Media and Communications Coordinator
Allie started with FFC in June of 2014 as the marketing intern, and officially joined the team as the Social Media and Communications Manager in October. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee many years ago, and hopes to obtain her master’s degree in public relations and advertising from DePaul University in June of 2015. She fell in love with fitness three years ago after running her first half marathon, and hasn’t looked back since.
Human Resources Recruiter
Vicky graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Business Administration in Marketing. She has been a recruiter in the medical device industry for the past 4 years and would like to expand her expertise and knowledge in the fitness industry. Vicky will be handling most of the recruiting for all FFC locations, assisting in human resources, and marketing efforts.
