Welcome to the FFC Oak Park Climbing Wall

Oak Park Climbing Wall General Policies

Oak Park’s 32-foot climbing wall is open to both Club members and non-members.

Our wall is open whenever the gymnasium is open, but guidelines and restrictions for its use during this time, as well as the specific Staffed Climbing Wall Hours, are listed below.

Belay Certification Lessons are available during Staffed Climbing Wall Hours.

When climbing, the Climber and Belayer must both be FFC-OP Belay Certified.

Children under age 12 cannot be Belay Certified.

Children under age 12 may be belayed by a Belay Certified parent.

All Certifications cover the use of both Grigris and ATCs.

Grigris, ATCs and harnesses are available at no charge. Climbers may use another belay device if they can demonstrate proficiency.

Guest Passes may be used any day, all day.

Guest Passes are for Climbing Wall and locker room use only. The gym’s workout equipment is reserved for Club member use only.

Bouldering is allowed for all climbers. Using a spotter when bouldering is highly recommended.

Climbing shoes are highly recommended but not required.

Staffed Climbing Wall Hours

Mondays through Fridays: 5:00 – 9:00 PM
Saturdays and Sundays: 1:00 – 5:00 PM
Additional hours by appointment.

During Supervised Climbing hours an FFC Climbing Wall Instructor will be available to belay uncertified climbers. There is no fee for being belayed. Non-Members must pay the normal Climbing Wall fees.

Certification Lessons can also be done during Supervised Climbing as well as other Staffed Climbing Wall Hours.

"Open" (un-staffed) Climbing Wall Hours

Open Monday: 4:30 AM
Close Friday: 9:30 PM
Saturdays and Sundays: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

The Climbing Wall is open for Club member and non-member use whenever the Club is open, even when the wall is not staffed. If you’re a non-member taking a class, you can visit the wall using your six free visits during this time.

First-time visitors to FFC-OP who arrive when the wall is not staffed may boulder, but new boulderers must first sign a Bouldering Waiver at the Front Desk. To top-rope climb during unstaffed hours, both the Climber and Belayer must be FFC-OP belay certified. They must also have their own harnesses, climbing shoes, and approved belay devices.
