Prevent The Spread of Disease In Your Community

Updated: March 27, 2020

No doubt this has been the most challenging couple of weeks in the 36 years we have been in business. It has been full of social distancing, empty streets, and a great deal of uncertainty. We have received many positive messages from our members and these are truly appreciated.

We know it has been difficult to change workout routines. What gives us encouragement is how many thousands of you have been continuing to exercise via our Facebook Live Streams and have taken advantage of FFC On Demand, which we have extended to all members at no charge for 30 days, offering:

  • Over 70 group fitness classes featuring your favorite instructors & workouts featuring many of our popular trainers
  • Nutrition tips and meal plans
  • Unlimited messaging with a nutrition specialist
  • Lifestyle modification including stress release and mindfulness practices
  • This is a great way to cope with the change in your exercise routine during this time of social isolation.

Please check your email for a special Free 30 Day Access To FFC On Demand available to all dues-paying members. If you didn't receive the email, please contact us at ffc.com/contact-us.

Of late, we have received hundreds of messages; mostly centered around two key questions:

  1. Are you reopening April 1?
  2. Will FFC be billing me on April 1?

1. Are you reopening April 1?

We will not be reopening on April 1. As you know, at this point, the state is under a "stay-at-home" order through April 7. Please expect the facilities and services to be unavailable indefinitely until the government has provided permission to re-open. We will be monitoring this ever-evolving landscape based on government guidance so that we can be prepared to re-open our clubs once it is appropriate to do so. Thank you for your understanding and continued patronage.

2. Will FFC be billing me on April 1?

  • To be clear - your membership has been put on freeze at no cost as of the day the clubs were temporarily closed. No further action is required. As you have already paid March dues, you will receive a dues credit on your membership account for the period of time that the club is temporarily closed.
  • Your membership dues will not be withdrawn again until your club re-opens. On the day we re-open your club, your membership dues will be charged prorata for the remaining days of the month, and your March membership dues credit will be applied.
  • Although members will not be billed for April membership dues, any non-dues charges, meaning any house account charges, that were billed to your account in March, will be debited against a membership dues credit for the period of time from March 17 – March 31.

For additional information, please read our COVID-19 FAQ here.

We really miss seeing our members and our team every day. While this COVID-19 pandemic is certainly causing feelings of anxiety, we know our FFC community is a powerful one, and we are determined to emerge even stronger once this is behind us. Indeed, we will re-open in celebration.

Thank you for your continued trust and patience, and we look forward to being your partners in fitness and wellness for the next 36 years.

Be Well,

Updated: March 16, 2020

As we continue to navigate through the unique challenges posed by COVID-19, I’d like to share an update on how Fitness Formula Clubs is responding. The safety and health of the FFC Community - members and staff alike – is our number one priority. As you are aware, we have been taking additional proactive steps for the last several days.

In further effort to safeguard our members, staff and their families, we have decided to temporarily suspend services at all FFC locations beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 at midnight. At this time, none of our staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

Given that this situation is complex and evolving, it is our intention to re-engage services at the clubs as soon as we can. Please expect the facilities and services to be unavailable indefinitely until the government has provided permission to re-open. We will be monitoring this ever evolving landscape so that we can be prepared to reopen our clubs once it is appropriate to do so.

During this time period above, while all services are temporarily suspended, we will continue to perform deep cleaning and preparing the clubs for re-opening. FFC staff will continue to be paid during the above stated time period, inclusive of service providers. All member services with expirations, FFC Bucks (including the Earn Your Enrollment Fee back program), and sessions will be extended accordingly.

Effective immediately, we will no longer be placing memberships on hold/freeze. All lost time during the FFC temporary shutdown will be credited to your membership account when the clubs reopen.

Free 30 Day Access To FFC On Demand:

On a positive note: as fate would have it, we created FFC On Demand at the end of 2019. All members will have complimentary access to this platform (available both online and through the app), effective immediately, during this temporary shutdown period. FFC On Demand hosts a robust offer of group fitness classes featuring your favorite FFC instructors, workouts featuring your favorite FFC trainers, nutrition tips, tricks and meal plans, unlimited messaging with a nutrition specialist, and lifestyle modification including stress release and mindfulness practices.

Please check your email for a special Free 30 Day Access To FFC On Demand available to all dues-paying members. If you didn't receive the email, please contact us at ffc.com/contact-us.

On behalf of all the FFC staff, I am incredibly appreciative of your membership and our Chicagoland-based FFC community. We will continue to provide updates as the situation changes via email and the ffc.com/prevent link. We are deeply grateful for your loyalty, patience and understanding during this time.

In health,

FFC is committed to the health and safety of our members and staff. As flu season continues into March and the CDC provides more information about COVID-19, we want to make you aware of the actions we are taking at the clubs to prevent the spread of disease and how you can help.

Here’s what FFC is doing to prevent the spread of disease:

  • In addition to stocking up on disinfecting gym wipes, we have ramped up our cleaning routines. We are doubling our efforts with our high touch-point areas, from dumbbells and locker handles to doors and drinking fountains.
  • We are encouraging our members to be more attentive to the courtesy of wiping down equipment with disinfecting gym wipes, an act that is now a precautionary measure to minimize bacteria on the non-porous, hard surfaces.

Additional FFC Cleaning & Safety Efforts:

  • From Saturday, March 14 – Friday, March 20, all 11 of our club locations will go through a proactive, overnight deep cleaning process. This is being facilitated through an outside, 3rd party professional cleaning vendor, using a using a hospital grade disinfectant recommended by the CDC. Operating hours will not be affected.
  • Cleaning sweeps for high touch areas of the clubs are happening at least once an hour at all clubs, this includes surfaces like door handles, hand railings, drinking fountains, keypads, and dumbbells to mention a few.
  • We have secured large quantities of disinfecting wipes and quaternary cleaning supplies to prevent supply chain interruption.
  • As a reminder, several weeks ago we implemented hands-free check in at all club locations.
  • The FFC leadership team, which includes every general manager and members of our corporate staff, is meeting daily to discuss and implement additional efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy.

While you are at FFC, here are some actions you can take to prevent the spread of disease:

  • Use the disinfecting gym wipes on all equipment surfaces, please don’t use your towels. We ask you to use the wipes generously and diligently, and these can be used to disinfect your hands as well!
  • Notify club staff of any empty disinfecting gym wipe dispensers and soap dispensers.
  • We are in the process of adding the disinfecting gym wipes to even more areas of club, including the locker rooms, we encourage you to use them generously and diligently.
  • Consider working out at off-peak times when possible. Those times are between 9 AM – 11 AM, 1 PM – 4 PM, and after 8 PM during the week, and after 2 PM on the weekends.
  • Please stay home if you are sick.
  • Consider placing a towel between you and the equipment you are using in the club.
  • Consider practicing social distancing, leaving 3 – 5 feet between you and another person, when using cardio equipment, on the fitness floor, and while in group fitness classes.

Additionally, the CDC lists these everyday actions to follow to remain healthy:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid social physical contact, like handshakes and hugs
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Stay home from work, school and all activities when you are sick, except to get medical care
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects daily using a regular household detergent and water

Our goal is to ensure members and employees alike remain confident in our clubs during these challenging circumstances. Club cleanliness is top-of-mind at all times. Please know that everyone’s health is a priority in everything that we do, as Safety is one of FFC’s Core Values!

We are confident that our clubs are safe and will continue to operate as normal.
