June 2 marks Global Running Day – a worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving. It’s also the (un)official start of Chicago Marathon training. Whether you are racing it in person, virtually, have your sights set on some shorter distances, or are just gearing up to run a mile, what and how you fuel your body can make or break your training and leave you feeling great or awful.
That’s why Allison Koch, FFC’s Elmhurst dietitian and 18 time marathon finisher (including Chicago 4 times), is offering a 3-part virtual workshop series to help you learn how best to fuel (and refuel) your body to support your training and get the best results possible (like a shiny new personal best time!).
Each workshop will be virtual (held via google meetings) and last about an hour. There will be plenty of time for Q&A! Dates, times and topics are below:
6/23 at 6 PM: Nutrition Basics for Runners – Let’s Build a Better Base!
7/28 6 PM: Fueling Before, After and On The Run: Practice Makes PRs!
9/1 at 6 PM: It’s Time to Tame the Taper Tantrums and Fuel Up for Race Day Success
Cost/workshop: $20, or purchase all 3 at once and save $10 (total = $50).
