As a a mom of young kids, I needed a gym where my children would be safe so I could be at peace. I didn’t think any gym would meet my standards, but when I saw the FFC Kids Club at Lincoln Park, I was impressed with the space, professionalism, and security. Now when I work out at the gym, it’s daily, and my kids run to play with the toys and the helpers who genuinely care and create games and crafts that keep them joyful. It’s been wonderful for all of us!

I was so impressed with Jameela as a personal trainer. She was creative, empowering, and professional. Each session she had a plan that kept me interested and targeted exactly what I needed. She clearly listened and had the knowledge to help me follow through. In just a few sessions, I felt stronger, more balanced and confident in my workout, expectations, and navigating the unique equipment to give me the results I need. Jerrold Beach

I was surprised at how much I could get out of these personal training sessions despite being relatively experienced at working out. Jerrold heard my goals and had me try movements in a different way that felt good and that I felt I could incorporate into my own workouts – my original goal for signing up for these sessions. The fact that FFC offers this puts it a step above other gyms I’ve tried because it shows you care about how much people are getting out of your gyms. And while I can’t afford regular sessions right now, because of Jerrold, I would seriously consider working with a regular trainer in the future.

Alicia Huggler

After a serious knee injury, I have been sidelined & I’m unable to ambulate without assistive devices. My weight had skyrocketed to a unhealthy 195 lbs & being 5’6” on a good hair day, that wasn’t healthy. I tried on my own to shed the excess lbs and I did manage to lose about 20 . That’s where it ended. My lack of mobility hindered any more Weight loss . I decided to try working with Alicia , the dietitian at the FFC Park Ridge . She took meticulous notes at our first meeting, & was able to put together a meal plan that would help me lose those stubborn extra lbs and not leave me starving. I stuck to her plan, & throughout the 3 months with her guidance every week , I was able to achieve my goal. I lost another 23lbs ! Her weekly pep talks kept me focused. When I got bored of the food , she was able to suggest alternative items to keep me on track. The only drawback was I had to buy a whole new wardrobe because I dropped 6 waist sizes! I highly recommend her expertise & knowledge. Thanks Alicia for a much slimmer & confident me!

Every session with Jessica was great! She really listened and helped me achieve my goals at FFC and beyond that. There is nothing more encouraging than your trainer being an active supporter in your weight loss journey.

Love, love, love the staff at FFC East Lakeview, the front desk, group fitness instructors and personal trainers. The group fitness instructors are awesome and offer exciting and challenging classes with some of my favorite instructor being Vince Schiano, Christine McCary and Jen Dahl.
I workout with two of the best personal trainers as well, Pedja Ristic and Joe Dankowski. I’ve continued to workout with Pedja for a long time now and enjoy the variety of our workouts and his constant pushing me to always do better. I recently started doing boxing with Joe and can’t get enough of his workouts. He’s very patient, friendly and detail oriented and continues to help me improve my boxing skills. I also signed up for Joe’s small group boxing classes and love the sense of community the class brings. There is a great group of people in his classes and it’s always one of my favorite workouts of the week, Joe does a great job of organizing and ensuring that the group gets a great workout in while having a great time at the same time! 🙂

Mike Barajas was exceptional. I have worked with trainers before but he specifically has catered to my goals instead of the normal activities just to get it done.

I discovered Zumba and Werq at FFC East Lakeview about 3 years ago. I had put on a bunch of weight and wanted to exercise more, but couldn’t bring myself to hit the treadmill or the elliptical. Dance fitness helped me not only lose 15 lb’s, but meet new amazing friends, allows me to be a part of an amazing community and I smile the whole time I sweat. Recently, I decided to step up my game. I started training with Jen Dahl. She is the best. She is not only one of my favorite Werq fitness instructors, she is also an incredible trainer. I have changed my diet, added in training and now down another 12 lbs/ I feel great, and can’t wait to see what happens next. Thank you FFC and Thank you Jen Dahl!!!

Javier Gutierrez

I wanted to write a quick note to thank everyone at FFC for my gym experience to date. In particular, I wanted to give my appreciation to my trainer, Javier Gutierrez. It’s not an overstatement to say that he has really changed my life for the better. I’m sure he’d be an excellent trainer under any circumstances, but my case has been special. Last year, I was recovering from a very difficult cancer treatment. (Successful, thankfully.) I had been quite active before my illness, but had not been able to work out for around three years. I decided to join a gym to get back into exercising regularly. I was lucky enough to connect with Javier.

The process of getting back into shape went much more quickly than I expected. Javier was patient with my physical limitations. He never rushed me, but he didn’t allow me to slack off either! With his encoragment, I found I could go farther in my workouts than I would have expected. I also had fun. I learned good workout habits and posture, built up strength and flexibility, and become much more confident. It may sound like I’m exaggerating, but the truth is that I went from being kind of weak and unhelthy to being healthier than I probably ever have been.

So thanks to FFC for having someone like Javier on staff. He’s awesome.

I just wanted to send a testimonial regarding working with your personal trainer Javier Gutierrez. My husband and I have been working out with Javier for just about a year now at FFC. We love his approach to fitness and really enjoy the variety in his training sessions. Our work outs are always very challenging and we both feel stronger and healthier after working with Javier for a year. We will certainly continue to work with Javier through the personal training program at FFC. It is such a great program with highly trained professionals and a great addition to the amenities at FFC. On today’s date a realized I left my eyeglasses in locker 502 this afternoon, I called the desk and Mario answered, he heard my story, telling me he would go look and call me back, he found my eyewear and called me back telling me they would be secured at front desk until I could come get them, I would like to thank Mario for his actions, he should be commended for his service. I’m there every day and will personally thank him, I just wanted his supervisor know that he took that extra step, to make a member feel special.

As always I just want to point out the continued good work Kevin an his staff does. As some highlights Cole Cary in personal training, David Bohn in group fitness as well as Lois Miller and specifically the front desk team. Cole has been my personal trainer for over 2 years and continues to keep things fresh and innovative while remaining consistent. David Bohn is absolutely one of the biggest assets to the FFC family (not only at Halsted but club wide) and is a rock star in group fitness. And Lastly Kevin and his front desk staff consistently are friendly and refreshing to greet every time I arrive at the club.

Over the past year I have been working with Trainer Jessica Frank. She is an amazing coach! She has helped me not only in the gym but with my diet as well. Because of this wholesome approach I have lost 30 lbs, 5% body fat, and reduced my BMI by 3%. I am so much healthier and stronger, and I have Jessica to thank for that!

FFC membership = inspiration & life changing

When I 1st joined the gym in 11-16-2016 I was excited because it was my birthday and I wanted to turn my life around.

It wasn’t until Jan 17, 2017 that I actually attended the gym because complications with a herniated disc, weight and this voice in my head that kept saying you can’t do it.
I couldn’t barely walk due to the constant pain I was constantly in on a daily basis. I attempted to work out that very 1st day and I was very discouraged because of how others were working out. It wasn’t fun and because I didn’t know how to work out properly.

It took me a week before I saw people walking out of a class; not only they were drenched in sweat, they looked happy and were walking strong. It was then I discovered the H.I.I.T. classes FFC has to offer. I asked about the classes and I was informed that I can sign up for 2 weeks. Luann, Gavin and Jernell worked with me and were well aware of my lower back issue. They make me sweat like I never have in my entire life. I was still a little discouraged but their energy along with the others in the class inspired me every single time to give just a little more.

I became addicted to the classes FFC offers and before I knew it, I lost a total of 41 lbs. since the 1st day I attended.

I became so fit, extremely mobile and flexible that I was able to finish strong with every exercise. My confidence level grew so much that I completed my 1st 5K (ever) on May 25th. I was so impressed that I was able to run non-stop and have energy for more that it inspired me to take on another challenge. So I registered for the Tough Mudder challenge this coming August along with the BoA Marathon in October 2017. Also, I can ride my bike up to 62 miles without any complications whatsoever.

Next year, I’m looking forward to be a triathlete all thanks to Luann (princess of power), Gavin (Mr. Energy), Jernell (who always pushes me more than I thought I could handle) Alex (Mr. flexible), Emily (Ms. Healthy bee) and Jeremiah (Mr. Strong). If you ask me, the perfect group dynamic team to help me stay on track for the best version of me…ever.
The entire staff here @ 141 W. Jackson are not only the best people I’ve ever met, they are also my heroes. They saved my life and inspire me one day after another.

Jessica Frank

I wanted to thank FFC and especially my trainer Jessica Frank for putting so much effort and effective guidance in my Pilates training sessions. When I joined FFC, I was in a mess and had issues with my leg balance and strength and range of motion of my entire body. I was constantly always afraid of falling down while walking due to these issues that I was born with. Then Jessica worked with me on these issues and now after having Pilates sessions with Jessica at FFC, my leg balance and strength has improved so much along with range of motion of my body that now I can walk well without any hesitation. I was not aware before working with Jessica that I would ever in my life see any improvement in these areas. Also, she has provided very useful tips for my diet to properly fuel my body to strengthen my legs and muscles, which helped me a lot since I am a vegetarian and was not eating properly.

So, thank you Jessica for your support and expertise on such a complicated case like me. I appreciate and admire your work and skills.

My FFC membership means a lot to me. It opens the door for me to a healthier world, brings me with self-confidence and what’s more, a sense of belongging to the city. Knowing there is always a place to go and relax after one day’s busy work is a huge relieve for me.

Kyle Pecka

I’ve been working with Kyle as my PT for almost a year, and I am so much stronger, with better posture, and in so much better shape than when I walked in the door. I had gotten completely out of shape (a dangerous thing for someone middle-aged) and Kyle has taken the time to create a comprehensive and methodical plan for me. He is dedicated to seeing the right results, and every piece of the workout is with a specific purpose in mind. He works hard, is always on time for my appointment, and gets results. I have been going to Kyle Pecka for my personal training for over a year and I can tell you that he is dedicated to making sure his clients get results. Kyle makes the sessions go by quickly through mixing up exercises. He is a good dude that knows how to put a personalize work outs to his clients needs and goals.

I just wanted to submit my compliments of Kyle Pecka, a trainer with whom I’ve worked for years. Kyle is great. He cares about his clients’ health and progress, caters his schedule to their needs, and adjusts his training style based on what clients want. He also is knowledgable and clearly keeps safety first in all of his work. He also continually comes up with ideas to keep training interesting — contests, new approaches, etc. I also often see him offering support to new trainers, and it may seem silly, but Kyle also keeps his work areas clean, always puts things away, and clearly cares about the condition of the facility.

Shay Wilson

I’m so happy that Joe referred me to Shay for personal training sessions. She has made me love to workout again. For the longest time I have dreaded going to the gym and would just stick to the treadmill or take some yoga classes. Shay has really showed me how to properly use gym equipment and she has made working out fun again. Hannah Ferris

I joined FFC Gold Coast in late November 2016 and wanted to share how happy I am with the decision I made. Your employee, personal trainer Hannah Ferris, is one of the main reasons I am so happy I joined FFC. After being frustrated with the small gym in my building I decided I needed to join a gym. I had previously belonged to one in Lincoln Park and was a diehard group fitness girl. I would go to a class almost daily and loved it. Upon joining FFC I was excited to find out I would be able to work with a trainer for a few sessions with my membership. I was randomly matched with Hannah Ferris and she has positively changed my outlook on fitness (and life!) in just a few short months.

During my first meeting with Hannah back in November I explained that my goal was to learn how to lift and to get stronger in general. Never having been an athlete, I was a bit nervous to embark on this journey. Doing squats, benching and deadlifting was incredibly intimidating. Hannah showed me that I could not only do all of these things, but I was actually ok at them! Ever since our first consultation Hannah has gone above and beyond to help me meet, and even exceed, my goals in just these few short months. She has coached me, encouraged me, and motivated me to get better and be stronger. She is always eager to try something new and challenge me in new ways. She compliments what I do well and has increased my self-confidence in the gym and that confidence has positively affected other areas of my life.

The way Hannah works with her clients and coworkers is to be admired. Whenever I see her in the gym, she waves or says hi and quickly checks in to see how things are going if time allows. I have noticed her doing this with her other clients, too. During one of our sessions, I squatted 135 pounds (which was a big deal for a petite girl like me!). She told every other trainer that was working there that night and they all gave me a high five. While this was just a small gesture from both her and the other trainers, I will never forget how good that made me feel and how it motivated me to continue to grow.

I feel so lucky to call Hannah my trainer and FFC is lucky to have her. Her enthusiasm, kindness, dedication to fitness and the well-being of others is evident upon first meeting her. I can’t wait to continue working with Hannah and to see what lies ahead for her in the fitness industry!

Deirdre Smith

I can’t say enough about Deirdre as a personal trainer. I have been seeing her now for two months and cannot wait for many more months to come.

She has become my biggest cheer leader, the person who pushes me to the edge each and every moment and the voice reminding me “I can do it!” As a cancer survivor and a mother of two under two, I was hesitant getting back to the gym. I had two very harsh pregnancies and deliveries in the last 36 months. To say I was scared was an understatement. I was paired with Deirdre to begin my time at the club. I truly didn’t think I would go beyond that. She proved me wrong! She sat with me and built a plan that I knew would work for a full time working mom of two with a husband and house to take care of as well! I look forward to each session with her as I know she is that extra “umph” I need to get me going and keep me going as I get back to the strongest me I can be.

She is extremely knowledgeable of not only fitness but nutrition and overall healthcare as well. She has taken the time to do extra research in regards to the hurdles I face after my personal experiences. She texts me on her free time with things such as options for stretches, exercises or hints of advice she comes across simply because she knows it will be helpful to me. She goes above and beyond the call of her job.

I truly am amazed each session with my weight loss, body fat decrease and strength increase to simply name a few things. FFC is truly lucky to have this very special lady!

FFC West Loop

I couldn’t really say better things about the overall experience I have had at the gym thus far. I have only been a member for about a month, but I really enjoyed the 4 personal training classes and the other perks they give you when you first join. They truly seem invested in helping you get your enrollment fee back too which is a great thing. I love the variety and the intensity in the classes they offer. There are people of all ability in them taking it as they need to, but you walk out feeling great. The instructors are so energetic and they really push you to do the best you can. My personal trainer was very kind. He listened to what I had to say and was focused on helping me in the ways I requested. I honestly would have signed up for more training classes, but the group fitness classes are so amazing I feel like I can’t pass up the opportunity to use them which is included in the membership fee, unlike the personal training. Overall I am very pleased. I have only spent time at the West Loop gym, but I have heard great things about the other gyms as well. I am very happy that I joined FFC.

FFC East Lakeview

I just wanted to reach out to say that I am absolutely loving my membership at FFC, and that Lea has especially made my time at FFC amazing!

When I first joined, Norma, who is absolutely lovely, helped to sign me up. I was mostly joining because I was going through a bad breakup and you guys are super close to my house.

Let me tell you, I LOATHED working out! But, the way you run the gym is genius! Getting free PT sessions and the 36 checkins in 90 days is absolutely key to developing a habit. I really felt like I was cared about as a member at FFC.

I told Lea that I really hate being yelled at and don’t want my ass kicked, I just wanted to do things that are healthy for me, and she was amazing! Put up with all of my complaining, and I noticed gains (#gains?) from our sessions. I will definitely be booking with her again soon.

She was also flexible with my schedule when my grandpa passed and when I was sick, which I really appreciated.

I’ve totally enjoyed the classes, too! I was the new girl at WERQ on Friday, Jen, and I loved it! (although, you kinda kicked my ass :)).

I’ve loved the pool, I love the chilled eucalyptus towels, I seriously think the steam room has changed my life.

I went from someone who never, ever worked out, and hadn’t seen a gym in years, to someone loving going to a club! You guys are great, and I am so happy I was connected with Lea.

I look forward to continue #TrainingForLife at FFC! 🙂

Juana and the South Loop Staff

The staff is amazing especially Jauna the babysitter- she takes the best care of our children. It’s safe. I feel safe and respected in this gym. It’s clean. I see the cleaning ladies working tirelessly to keep the locker room clean. For people who work out every day it’s a real exercise community not just a gym. My only regret is I wish I would have joined ffc sooner.

John Malinak

I recently attended some training sessions at FFC Westloop with John Malinak. I had not worked out in the past year and was very low on energy and stamina. He assessed my activity level and built a routine customized for me. I saw results within just 4 sessions. I was lifting 3 times the weight I could in the first session and could workout way longer without going out of breath. He is a good trainer as he focuses on his clients and truly listens. Great job John!

Jessica Frank

For almost 2 years I’ve been working with trainer Jessica Frank and I’ve DEFINITELY gotten some amazing results that I never dreamed were even possible.

My initial weight loss goal was 10 pounds. I knew I needed to lose closer to 20 but I didn’t want to set myself up for failure. Well…after working with Jessica I’ve now lost 40 POUNDS!

I’m in – without a doubt – the best shape of my life! I’m actually at a weight lighter than what’s on my driver’s license! Several things happened I never thought possible: I have much more muscle definition in my arms, more tone to my legs, and abs screaming to be shown somewhere, sometime when the weather is warmer!

Jessica’s workout plan for me involved lifting heavier weights and with her nutrition knowledge I learned just how important WHAT I eat is to HOW I’m able to attain my weight loss goals.

Friends and family constantly ask me: ‘what are you doing?!’ And I credit my success to 3 things: my trainer (Jessica yeah!), diet changes (ones you can LIVE with NOT ones you’ll follow for 2 months!) and upping my workout routines – in intensity not necessarily number.
I’ve had other trainers but the constant focus that Jessica pays to diet AND exercise – was never there. Most importantly, my workouts are catered to ME. I so look forward to my sessions with her – whether it’s a hard core Pilates routine, a killer upper body workout or leg exercises that have me ‘feeling the burn’ the next day.

Don’t let the fact that she’s cute and blonde fool you – she’s going to kick your butt! I’ve learned so much from her and she has become not only a great teacher but a friend as well.

Because there is a sense of belonging there, the customer service is incredible – it really makes a difference when you are warmly greeted when checking in and when they say goodbye when you leave. The facilities are well cleaned as well.

The facilities are clean and well kept. The front desk staff is always warm and welcoming. I’ve had a few private fitness training sessions, which we great. I felt as if I received the proper instructions for reaching my goals. I take advantage of many groups classes. Although my experience with each instructor varies, I haven’t had a negative experience and I don’t expect to. There were also times I had issues regarding billing – the member services/management team always responded with expediency. Overall, I really enjoy the fitness center.
