Congratulations to FFC Boystown’s December Member of the Month, Nancy Kluth! We asked Nancy a few questions about her experience, and here’s what she had to share.

What does membership at FFC mean to you?

I’m taking positive steps to stay healthy and age gracefully.

When at FFC, you will find me doing…

Pilates in the equipment studio.

I work out to…

Stay alive. I’m 71 years young, survived cancer twice, have arthritis throughout my body – if I don’t take care of my body, who will?

Colder weather is around the corner, and that can be especially hard on tired, sore muscles. Join us on Saturday, November 17 at 10 AM and Saturday, December 29 at 10 AM for our RENEW restorative Pilates group apparatus class with Bela Staycer!

Cost: $20 for members, $30 for non-members – receive complimentary entry with proof of recent race participation – bring in a recent bib or medal!

For questions or more info, contact Bela at istaycer@ffc.com.

Join us Saturday October 20, from 10 AM – 12 PM for the Lakeview Halloween Pup Crawl, hosted by Miss Foozie and presented by A Dog’s Best Friend and Northalsted! The event will be a fun pre-Halloween dog party and neighborhood walk with prize raffle, gift bag, treats and after party at Lark featuring Alaskan Brewing Co. Oktoberfest sampling. Dog costumes are optional, but encouraged!

The $5 registration per dog includes raffle entry and goodie bag/treats. We hope to see you there! Contact kgornik@ffc.com with any questions.

Congratulations to Bill Lucas, FFC Boystown’s October member of the month. We asked Bill about his experience at FFC and here’s what he had to share!

What my FFC membership means to me:

FFC offers me the ability to work out, run on a treadmill, work with a Pilates instructor or personal trainer, and enjoy a massage. And I won’t find a weak excuse not to hit the gym if I have a session booked!

You can find me:

I spend most of my time with my Pilates instructor in the studio. I’ve been enjoying Pilates for 11 years now. I also enjoy stretching and warming up, and I use the weights / machines once or twice a week.

I work out to:

Avoid getting old. With the stretching and Pilates, I keep loose and limber. The weights keep me strong. All of these help me keep up with my two boys!

FFC will have cheering stations during the 2018 Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Stop by anytime to join us in cheering on members, or sign up as a volunteer captain to help setup and hang out with us all morning! Plus, we’ll also have an Athlete’s Village pre-and-post-marathon set up at our FFC South Loop location!

FFC Cheering Station #2 – near Waveland and Inner Lakeshore Drive, just down the street from FFC East Lakeview (3657 N. Pine Grove). The station will be staffed from 7:30am – 11am. We will need volunteers to set up the station at 7:00am. This will be our primary cheering station for FFC charity partner TEAM TO END AIDS (T2).

FFC Cheering Station #3 – near Clinton and Monroe, just down the street from FFC West Loop (10 S. Clinton). This station will be staffed from 8:30am-12noon. We will need volunteers to set up the station at 8:00am. This will be our primary cheering station for FFC charity partner DARE2TRI.

When at FFC, you will find me doing…

Workouts with Cole C, cardio and telling endless stories to slow down my workouts.

I work out to…

Keep sane, age gracefully and readying myself for a significant high school reunion: one month to go!

During the summer, it gets more zen by the lakefront. Beginning June 5, join us Tuesdays from 7 – 8 PM and Sundays from 10 – 11 AM for some BYOM (bring your own mat) yoga. Classes are Lincoln Harbor/ Belmont Harbor Event Space, at the very end and open to all members and non-member guests.
