Marathon Training April 27, 2012

RunMonster Half and Marathon Training Programs begin June 4. Are you training for a late summer or early fall running event? Perhaps a half marathon, the Chicago Marathon, or Marine Corps Marathon? April’s Message from General Manager Steve Kmetz March 29, 2012

Spring is the season of renewal and new beginnings. Does your workout plan need a new beginning? Now is the time to figure out your new goals and create the possibilities you have been dreaming about. Not sure how to exactly go about it? I have found the key to any goal is to follow the S.M.A.R.T method:

S – Specific. What exactly do you want to accomplish?
M – Measurable. Make sure you can quantify your goal. For example, I want to be able to run a mile in under 8 minutes. Not, I want to have such a good body, (insert hottest celebrity here) will want to marry me.
A – Attainable. Is your goal reachable? Will you be able to deadlift 500 lbs with 4 weeks of training? Probably not.
R – Realistic. If you have 3 kids, work full time and care for your parents – participating in this year’s Ironman may be out of reach. But, you could take part in our first Indoor Triathlon on April 7?
T – Timely. Give yourself enough time to train for your goal, but not too much time that you forget about it.

Once you’ve established your goals, FFC West Loop we have many resources to help with your fitness journey. Things like an intense Spin Class, an extreme Boot Camp or a private one-on-one training session. There are so many different things to help you achieve results. My team and I are here to assist and support you in your journey. So please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions.
