February’s Message from General Manager Kathleen Weber January 27, 2012

Welcome to February 2012! As we enter month two – let’s talk about Championship Moments.

Prior to coming to FFC, I spent most of my professional career in college coaching. As an athlete, I relish all play-off and champion tournament games. Recently, I was at my parents for dinner (with my 7 brothers and sisters and 19 nieces and nephews!) watching Tim Tebow and the Broncos beat Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers in the AFC wild card game. I was getting texts from friends after one team would score, going back and forth regarding the game. The energy, enthusiasm, emotion, focus and team work that presented itself in those “do or die” game situations was truly infectious. It came through the TV and had my family cheering and jeering for 3 hours.

Every month we have goals. We create them in our businesses, families and health and fitness. When life kicks in and we are forced to push through challenges with unceasing vigilance – there are no texts, no bets, no chili or chips in everyday life. In those trying times, it is discipline that allows you to stir up the energy of a championship moment. Could you imagine if we were able to create a play-off mindset everyday? If we could build and maintain the energy of the huddle before the last play that determines the championship? One and done, this is it, nothing else matters? How much would we accomplish if we threw everything we have into everything we do? How different would our relationships be at home, at work and with ourselves? Yes it would be totally exhausting (which is why you need stay in ultimate physical condition!) But the milestones we would reach are incomprehensible.

Championship time… it is a beautiful thing. Keep Strong and Journey On, South Loop!
