A New Year’s Message from General Manager Lisa Gregorich December 27, 2011

It is an honor to write to you as the General Manager of the FFC Old Town location. On behalf of my loyal staff, I hope all of you had a safe, warm and happy holiday season!

I became the General Manager of this Club on January 10, 2011. 2012 will bring my one-year anniversary! I have learned a lot over the past year, not only about the nuts and bolts of operations, but about the hopes and dreams of the members that fill the Club each day. I have learned that for some, coming here on a regular basis is literally the difference between life and death. I have learned that for others, the Club is their training grounds for what they want to achieve: their first marathon, to get into shape after their first child, or to climb Mount Kilimanjaro! I have learned that membership means something different for each individual that steps through our doors – but it certainly means something important, lasting and difference-making to everyone.

Now is the time of year for us to reflect on the year that has passed and how we can change and grow in 2012. For me, I’m making a list of all that was great in 2011, and what I wish were different, and then focusing on making that happen. I invite you to do the same!

I wish you all the health and happiness in 2012, and look forward to another incredible year here.

In This Month’s Connections . . . December 22, 2011

January brings New Year’s resolutions and the hope for a better year than the one before. One of FFC’s resolutions is to communicate even more educational and informative content that will help give you RESULTS. Each month, we will highlight several stories written for our blog, focused on all aspects of fitness. This month, check out two good-for-you recipes from our registered dietitian, Jennifer Ventrelle; learn how small changes can equal a smaller waistline from FFC group fitness instructor Lisa Payne; plus read the amazing story of our CFO, Brian Singleton, who enrolled in Lose to Win last year, and has now lost 100+ pounds!

Communication is Key! December 22, 2011

Wish you could get updates from FFC real-time? Want to know when a group fitness class is cancelled? Or if the power goes out at the Club? Then opt-in to our texting communication program! What’s Your New Year’s Resolution? December 22, 2011

Here’s an idea: commit to running the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon for Team Bright Pink! bebrightpink.org is a nonprofit organization that exists to enlighten and empower young women to take control of their breast and ovarian health by providing education, support and a sense of community for a better, brighter future. FFC has partnered with Bright Pink as their official marathon training partner. If you can run a mile, you can run a marathon, and we can show you how! Contact Wendy Avner at wendy@bebrightpink.org for details on fundraising and program details.
