Congratulations to Clyde Akbar, FFC Gold Coast’s November Member of the Month! We asked Clyde about his experience at FFC, and here’s what he had to share:
What does membership at FFC mean to you?
FFC is a major part of my life when I am in Chicago (we are snowbirds.) I have been a member of FFC since 1996. My participation in FFC’s various classes, including Jernell’s Cardio Mix class and the Masters Swim class, help me to stay in shape after quadruple bypass surgery. At one time I was on 23 different medications which had many side effects. Because of my frequent workouts at FFC, I’m down to only one aspirin and one other medication for prostate. My wife, who rarely exercised before I joined FFC, also now attends regularly with me!
When at FFC you will find me…
On Monday mornings you can find me at FFC Old Town Club, 6:15am for Jernell’s Martial Art Muscle class. You can also find me 5 times a week at the FFC Gold Coast pool. When I practice for swim meets, I swim 6 times a week, sometimes twice a day, often with my coaches Allen and Heather.
I work out to…
I am 67 years old. I work out to stay in shape and stay off major medications – and my wife thinks I look good in my swim trunks and goggles.
